International Arrival → Málaga / Coastal Base → Finca Monasterio

Step 1: Getting to Spain!

How We Usually Travel (From Dallas)

For those coming from the U.S., especially Texas, here’s what we typically do:

We fly DFW → Madrid(MAD) nonstop (about 9 hours).

From Madrid, we either:

  • Take a short connecting flight to Málaga, or

  • Take the high-speed AVE train from Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes to Málaga María Zambrano Station (about 2 hours 45 minutes).

Sometimes we spend a night or two in Madrid to break up the travel. Other times, if we’re not lingering, we take the train the same day we land — there are several departures daily, and it’s an easy, comfortable ride straight into central Málaga.

The train is smooth, reliable, and often our favorite option.

If you’re not in Dallas, you may find:

  • Direct seasonal flights into Málaga (AGP) from the U.S.

  • Easy connections through Madrid, Paris , London, or Amsterdam.

    • London Gibraltar is also a viable option when planning to get to the Venue.

Arriving in Malaga (AGP)

The closest major airport to our venue is Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), located along Spain’s southern Mediterranean coast in Andalusia.

We highly recommend Málaga as a place to spend a night or two if your schedule allows. It’s a vibrant coastal city known for:

  • The Picasso Museum (he was born here)

  • The historic city center (“El Centro”)

  • The Alcazaba fortress overlooking the port

  • Beachfront promenades and incredible food

It’s relaxed, walkable, and a great way to ease into Spain before heading toward the venue.

From Málaga Airport:

  • 20–25 minutes to Málaga city / Los Boliches

  • Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes directly to the venue

To make travel easier on yourself, we recommend positioning no farther than Málaga (or nearby coastal towns like Fuengirola or Los Boliches) before making the final drive to the venue near Estepona/Sotogrande.

Timing your Travel

When you fly to Spain, you move forward one calendar day.

We recommend departing the U.S. no later than Friday, which puts you landing in Spain on Saturday. That gives you a full day to get to the coast, settle in, and make the short trip to the venue on Sunday — just in time for paella.

Finca Monasterio / H10 Estepona Palace Hotel

(Finca Monasterio is approx. 45 miles from Los Boliches)

The venue is in a beautiful but rural area between Estepona and Sotogrande.

Important to know:

  • The commuter rail from Málaga only goes as far as Fuengirola.

  • From the coast to the venue is about a 45–60 minute drive.

Your options:

  • Rental car (offers flexibility, but not required)

  • Taxi / Uber / Bolt (Bolt is widely used and reliable)

    • Typical fare: €80–€110

    • If using a taxi, agree on price before departing

For guests staying at H10 Estepona Palace, the drive to the venue is approximately 45 minutes.

We will provide pre-party transportation from H10 Estepona Palace to the venue and back on both Sunday and Monday, so guests staying there will not need to arrange rides for wedding events.

We are also considering organizing a small shuttle on Sunday from the coastal area to assist with arrival. Please complete your RSVP so we can gauge interest and determine the level of transportation support needed.

Because the venue is rural, departing can require more coordination than arriving. For guests staying at the Finca, we will arrange shuttle service at checkout to the H10 Estepona Palace, where onward travel will be much simpler.

Getting to the Venue
